Jake the Plumber crew 2019BUY LOCAL. We all know how supporting local shops keeps the economy local. When you choose a local plumber, electrician, or carpenter, you’re helping people in your own community. We’re putting those dollars right back into local supermarkets, paying for kids’ music and dance lessons, buying school supplies, and investing right back in the community. We live where we work and are not part of a nation-wide chain.

But, how do you know that handyman, plumber, or electrician is the best choice for your project? One simple word: REVIEWS! We recommend that you ask your neighbors and look at nextdoor.com for truly local reviews. Facebook neighborhood pages are another great way to find out what your own neighbors think of local businesses. Google MyBusiness reviews can also give you a good local picture of local tradespeople.

Nextdoor.com is our favorite, since everyone on this social website has been verified with a postcard to be a local resident. If you’re not a part of this website, consider joining!

Take reviews on large international social media with a grain of salt – sites such as Yelp and Angie’s List. They have often been subject to paid reviewers and exceptionally good – and bad – reviews that have been purchased by shady companies.

Many of our own customers are the result of old-fashioned word of mouth referrals – a neighbor, cousin, family member has liked our work, so they call us for their plumbing projects!
